What is an EMDR Intensive?
EMDR Intensive Programs consist of 3 parts:
1. The intake appointment
2. The intensive EMDR sessions
3. The follow up appointment
How long do intensives take?
Amy will create a personalized treatment plan for 2-day, 3-day, or 4-day Intensive sessions, each lasting 3 hours. These sessions are scheduled over one to two weeks, typically held between 9 AM and 4 PM.
Which issues can be helped using EMDR or ART?
These therapies have been successful in treating trauma-related disorders such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), complex PTSD (C-PTSD), and developmental traumas. Additionally, they have shown efficacy in managing anxiety disorders, including generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), phobias, and panic disorder, as well as depressive disorders such as major depressive disorder (MDD) and persistent depressive disorder (PDD). Furthermore, EMDR and ART have been utilized to address issues related to low self esteem, relationship difficulties, grief and loss, addiction, and other stress-related conditions. The adaptive processing facilitated by these therapies allows individuals to reprocess distressing memories and experiences, leading to symptom reduction and improved emotional wellbeing.
Why choose an intensive over weekly therapy?
In moments of distress, a powerful intervention can swiftly alter the course, providing relief and healing. An intensive retreat condenses the therapeutic process, offering profound benefits in just days compared to the prolonged timeline of weekly therapy sessions. Each retreat day equals eight sessions of traditional therapy, providing two months' worth of progress in one day. With your therapist's undivided attention throughout the intensive, including breaks, the continuity of the work maximizes effectiveness.
How many EMDR intensive sessions do I need?
Typically, we can address one primary issue within 2-4 EMDR intensive sessions.

Depending on how your brain responds to EMDR and how many topics you want to address, the total number of intensive EMDR sessions will vary for each person.

- have an understanding of the issue they want to address with EMDR
- have awareness of their emotions & body sensations that come up when talking or thinking about something stressful or traumatic
- are ready to make major shifts and heal through a powerful and transformative experience
